Need Advice!

Alright my following (ok ok I know I'm definitely not big enough to have a following but it sounded nice didn't it? Oh hush!), I am in need of your advice.

Drool Prince is 3 1/2yrs old. He potty trained at 2 1/2 when Spoiled Princess potty trained.. It didn't stick. Baby Bug was born, he had to see Biomom occasionally (which stresses him to no end).. It just didn't stay. No biggie, he was still young.

This winter became the time to register the little kids for preschool..

Spoiled Princess is definitely going. She has never really been way from Momma & our kindergarten is all day long- sorry not doing that w/o some sort of transition.

I had the option of enrolling Drool Prince as well. He really wants to go to preschool b/c naturally he wants to do anything that Spoiled Princess does. One problem- you have to be 100% potty trained. At the time, I assumed by this summer it wouldnt' be an issue so we signed up and took the very last 3yr old spot. Woohoo us!

Preschool ,my friends, starts NEXT MONDAY! ONE WEEK from now.. Drool Prince is not 100% potty trained. He still wears pull ups.. Some days he goes potty all day long and wakes up dry. Other days he pees and poops in his pants all day long with no shame. Still other days he stays dry off and on and pees off and on.. There is no rhyme or reason.

I am at a loss here.. I've tried bribery, I've tried taking stuff away, I've tried just giving up and saying he'll do it when he does it.. The problem is that he REALLY wants to go to preschool. He does.. It's only 2days a week for 3hrs /day.. BUT I dont want to send him (plus it's against rules) if he's going to be having accidents.. I'm not really even sure if he's allowed to wear pull ups or not.. I don't want him to be labeled the pee baby kid.. I really don't want to put him in that spot.. But on the other hand, I've been telling him that school starts soon & he can't pee his pants if he wants to go to school.. I'm not sure what the issue is but the boy does have some stress..

#1. We have Southern Darlin' in the house now.. Overall they get along very well but she has taken over his spot as Spoiled Princess' #1 playmate.

#2. We are doing visits with Biomom (for baby bug) again. While he doesn't have to see her, I do believe it stresses him out to even go to the DCS office and see her there.. She has approached him twice and tried to speak to him but both times he just turned his head and ignored her.

Soo what should I do? Should I just ignore the accidents & send him to preschool in a pull up?

Should I just hold him out this year and let him try again next year?

Any suggestions are welcome.. The time is ticking.

Potty Talk..

Drool Prince is potty training.. again.. He was almost completely trained last summer (a bit early, I know) but then we got Baby Bug and he regressed. Now that he's about to turn 3- we've been working on it again.

With Spoiled Princess, we used the fancy smancy reward chart. It worked wonderfully, but Drool Prince likes a more..substantial reward.

I've finally figured out his weakness. Who knows if our success has been in the rewards, his decision to start going or momma's threat that only Big Boys who go in the Potty turn 3.. yeah, not sure he believes me on that one either.. Either way, he's started going in the potty again.

Hearing those sweet words " Momma, I hafta go PEEE" is music to my ears. He's even figured out how to lean forward so it doesn't spray everywhere! Yay! Score for Drool Prince.

To keep him excited about going, we always clap and say Yay! Good Job Drool Prince whenever he goes potty. He gets 1 treat for pee & 2 for poops. His treat choices are the little candy converstation hearts, marshmallows or gummy bears. Sorry, no M&M's here b/c of allergies :(

Earlier today, I was in the bathroom.. uhmm, going to the bathroom. Having just finished up , I hear Drool Prince come running down the hall- "I hafta go PEE, Momma!!" So I quickly pull up my pants and flush. Not quick enough. He runs in and peers into the potty..

"Ohh Momma, you go poop? GOOD JOB!! You can have 2 candies now!"

gee, thanks hun.

~~~~~~~
Over the weekend, we were shopping (more about that in another post) . I had Baby Bug in the sling & had already went to the bathroom when Drool Prince announced he had to GO! So I did what most momma's would do in this situation, I declared that Daddy had to take him. I cannot stoop down to help a toddler BOY go pee ,while having the baby strapped to me in the sling.. Sorry, Daddy was going to Have to do it. I don't know about you, but 'round here Daddy doesn't do much in the potty training dept. He can change a mean diaper but when it comes to the potty training, he's usually a bit MIA.
So Daddy Chaos had to man up and took Drool Prince potty. I got the story after he came back out. Apparently Daddy had to pee too, so after DP was done, he told him to stand 'over there' while I go too. Naturally, DP -being a very inquisitive almost 3yo- had to turn around to look at what Daddy was doing.
"DADDY!!! You go pee in you PANTS?!" DP gasps in horror.
Daddy Chaos calmly explained that no he was Not peeing in his pants, geesh!, and when Drool Prince was a big boy, he could pee standing up. He just needs to grow a bit b/c he's too short. Of course we all know where this is going , don't we?
Drool Prince had to Seee how Daddy could pee standing up. So he comes around the front to take a peek.
"You pee'in, Daddy?"
"Yes , Drool Prince.. No go stand back over there."
"ohhh, you pee on me?"
"No, I'm not going to pee on you, but please go stand over there. I'll be done in a minute"
**note, apparently Daddy Chaos has bladder control that I haven't had in 13yrs. cuz I'd have totally been done by now, there is no stopping once it's started**
Drool Prince goes to stand facing away and just when you think it's all over, Daddy hears his little awed voice.
"You have a BIG pee-pee daddy!! I have a little one"
Daddy Chaos has been told that he can go to work and brag to all his work buddies that he totally impressed the 3yo with his size.. Lmao..
Potty Training x 2
You might remember all the problems we've had with Spoiled Princess and using the royal throne.. I am happy to say that we seem to be 98.9% past those issues!!
She has been staying dry THRU THE NIGHT even!
She has been wearing her big girl My Little Pony UNDERWEAR even! (ok, only at home b/c I'm not brave enough to test it when we're out and about)
She's doing wonderfully! I'm soo proud! It's like she finally decided that she could do it & is doing wonderful! What joyful words to hear today : Mommy, I need to go poop.. Who'd have thunk I'd be happy to hear that? lol!
To top things off, Drool Prince has decided that he wants to go on the potty too! We had a foster parent class allllllllllllllll day on Saturday. So grandparents kept him while we 'learned great things to improve our fostering attitudes'.. The report came back ::
He stayed dry the entire time! Potty all the way! We hadn't even started at home yet! He was even dry after nap!?! This is the child that normally pees thru his diaper & clothes at nap & bedtime! Wow!
So I took the plunge and went ahead & bought him some pull ups & we started doing potty training today..
WHY did no one remind me what it's like with BOYS? Not even 10mins ago- I was PEED on TWICE! My pants got wet, my arm got sprayed, the floor is soaked! Sure pee got in the potty too but still.. EWWW..
And those lovely little deflectors that they put on the potty seats? Pardon my french but What the HELL?! All that does is spray the pee in a million different directions.. Alas, my bathroom will never be the same :( At this point he's too concerned with leaning over to watch the pee stream come out (oh and hold his shirt out of the way.. ha) to worry about aiming.. Lordy I can only imagine how messy this journey is going to be.. but he's happy to be peeing & POOPING in the potty already! I could have no kids in diapers soon! WOW!
Who'd have thunk?
Do you see those shiny/glittery dophin stickers?? THOSE are the reason for our success !
Spoiled Princess will now POOP IN THE POTTY!! Yes people, this is exciting news! I've tried everything under the sun & nothing was working. When I got home after my week long stay in the hospital o'fun ~ she had been going potty for Daddy Chaos & G'pa all week long.. Mommy gets home and it's full force back to peeing & pooping in our pants. Great times I tell ya! :)
What finally got us over this potty training hump in our life? STICKERS! Sure I'd tried stickers before but apparently not the right kind of stickers..
You see, there is a magical quality to my special stickers.. We have regular stickers for pee- because hey that's alot easier :) But we have extra special super shiny & glittery POOPIE Stickers! ohh yes, it's enough to make you want to lay down and roll around in them with joy..
No more screaming and refusing to potty.. Now she just says "mommy I need to go potty" and off we go.. Stickers go on the chart & we count how many times she's went potty..
Next step-- big girl real UNDIES! One step at a time people!
