Sorry my peeps, I have tons of things to write about but I always think of them when I'm already lying in bed *this* close to sleep. I have a few things coming up very very soon though!! Until then, I'm addicted to books about as much as I am Dr Pepper (Hey @DrPepper, come sponsor me!). *ahem* So, I'm always thrilled when I'm given the opportunity to talk about a great book.. Oh and I get to do some awesome giveaways this time around too, so read on thru!
The Book :
Ella Reynolds knew from the first moment she walked into the old house someone or something was watching her. Waiting. Her husband's violent murder sent her spiraling into a world of grief and isolation, but Ella isn't alone. Who or what is responsible for her husband's death is still with her. Darkness has engulfed the past year of Ella's life. Everyday reality slips a little more between her fingers as she struggles to break free from her memories.
She must look deeper into her past as well as the present to discover truth of her husband's homicide. A string of uncanny events takes place and practical explanations run thin as Ella follows the terrifying road to closure. As the past and present come to a head, Ella must decipher who or what the murderer is before it takes her as well.
The Trailer :
My Thoughts :
Ok , I admit the trailer is a little bit cheesy :- ) Maybe you won't think so, watch it just to make sure ! The book, though.. oh the book. I am more than a little bit in love with Liz Schulte right now. She write scary really well!
So, Ella moves to this little town with her husband. It's an old family house that her husband has inherited and has all these happy family memories in. Ella feels anything but welcome.. Alas, she does what many do- tries to make it work. I was impressed with how long she stuck it out because honestly, I'd have been the heck out of dodge.. Sorry hubby, we ain't staying here- this crap is CRAZY.
Alas, things get worse when Ella's husband is brutally murdered. She writes horror books for a living and is naturally the prime suspect in the small town's eyes. Ella, on the other hand, thinks the ghosts.. the house.. has killed her husband.
This is one of those books that you won't be able to put down because you just need to know who did it. Was it truly the house? Is there a murderer on the loose? Is Ella just crazy and did she really do it? I went back and forth repeatedly and while I correctly predicted some parts, I was wayyyy off on other aspects! If you need a good scary story (just in time for Halloween!) , give Dark Corners a try!

....'liked' you on FB - Barbara Battaglia.

The more reviews I read about Dark Corners...the more I really gotta have this book!
ReplyDeletebarbbattaglia@yahoo.com
I agree with Barbara, have read several reviews and everyone seems to like it. As to format, I have a Kindle and would prefer that format--not because I like it better than hard copy, but because I am trying to get the sheer number of books in my house down to a manageable number! If people would just stop writing books I want to read, I might be able to catch up with what I already have!
