I'm happy as I am

It was brought up to me recently how much I screwed up my life and threw everything away. As a senior in highschool, I had a full scholarship to a local college. I had also been offered an internship to a summer program held by one of our governments ABC offices. If accepted, they would have paid for my college as well. At that point in my life, one might say I was being handed everything on a silver platter. Sure I had planned on going to college- to be what? Who knew, it was expected so I was going to go. The thought of joining one of the country's elite services , roaming foreign countries, speaking different languages, having a really cool oo7 car (ok that's only in James Bond.. but still..) & some really cool gadgets that can break a man in .02 and have him telling me all his country's secrets would have been neat. Am I cut out to be a spy?? Maybe back then , who knows how my life would have shaped but now? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaha..

But yes I just threw that all away when I got pg at 18. Boggles the mind huh? I didn't realize that by accidentally getting pg, I was purposely thumbing my nose & tossing all those "chances" down the drain. Am I just a bit bitter that this person chose to phrase it this way and is still holding a 'grudge' after 14yrs? Hell yes I am!? Even if I could go back and redo everything, I doubt I'd change a thing. I'm darn happy with my life & how everything turned out. Sure I didn't plan on getting pg, but if I hadn't then I wouldn't have a beautiful almost teen who is becoming such a wonderful person to be around (when she's not having one of those hormonal moments that I just want to lock her in her room til she's 40). I reminded the naysayer that if asked anytime in my entire childhood what I wanted to be when I grew up- the answer was always "A Mommy" and I planned on having 20 kids.. Hey, I got what I wanted right? I'm only 15kids short right now but I'm willing to lower that initial number :)

So, share with me- in comments or on your own blog.. What did you want to be when you grew up.. And did you really do that with your life?

As of right now the kids have their own dreams :

Drama Queen has plans to be an actress/ singer with lots of money! We always hear about the wonderful HUGE house she's going to build us when she's rich and famous. It's in writing now hun, so you're stuck to it!

Attitude King has no clue.. I'm pretty sure he plans on living with me forever, which is fine since he's only 10 but I"m pretty sure by 30 I'll be giving him the boot.

Spoiled Princess is going to drive her own airplane that is THIS big. And gpa gets to ride with her.. Ohh and she wants a big green COMBINE too. That's my girl.. So naturally she's going to be independently wealthy, I'm sure she'll share with her Momma.. right SP??

Drool Prince is going to either be a Dinosaur (ROAR) or perhaps a puppy (Growl).. works for me :)

Baby Bug at this time is working his way towards a wonderful career as a Sumo wrestler.. lol.

  1. Like you, I too wanted to be A Mommy when I was growing up and now I am. I had several opportunities to go to college on someone else's dime as well but I didn't mostly because I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do for money.

I've stopped referring to my career as what I want to "do with my life" because it's only a very, VERY small portion of what I want to do with my life.

Kudos to you for loving who you be! :)
